Georgetown 23, St. John’s 13

NEW YORK (AP) _ Charlie Turner’s 19-yard touchdown run in the third period enabled Georgetown _ which got a career-high 186 rushing yards from Steve Iorio _ to pull away from St. John’s for a 23-13 victory Friday night in the Metro Atlantic Conference.

Turner’s touchdown came after Jermaine Creighton’s 1-yard run pulled the Red Storm (5-3, 5-3) to 12-7 earlier in the quarter.

Pawell Wiorowski added field goals of 37 and 25 yards for the Hoyas (6-2, 6-1), who also got a 4-yard scoring run from J.J. Mont for a 12-0 halftime lead.

The Hoyas also recorded two safeties.

St. John’s also scored on a 12-yard pass from Mark Levine to John O’Leary in the final period.
