Nighttime sewer inspections will cause lane closure on Whiskey Road
The City of Aiken Engineering and Utilities Department will be implementing nighttime closures of one lane on Whiskey Road for the next several days due to the cleaning and inspection of sewer lines.
Because of the work, one lane of Whiskey Road between South Boundary Avenue and Mead Avenue will be closed from 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. starting Jan. 14 and lasting until Jan. 19, according to the city of Aiken’s website.
According to the city’s Acting Engineering and Utilities Director Mike Pryzbylowicz, the work being done is “routine maintenance.”
The department has been cleaning and inspecting about 44 miles of pipe in the sewer system since last year, with their primary work being done around the Sand River Basin area.
All lanes on Whiskey Road will be open during daylight hours, but drivers who are on the road late at night or early in the morning should be mindful of the lane closure.
