Allen W. Hoppe, 72, of Watseka, passed away Thursday (Sept. 13, 2018) at the Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka. He was born Sept. 18, 1945, in Watseka, the son of Wilbert and Roselind Bremer Hoppe; and they preceded him in death, as did one sister, Carolyn J. Hoppe.
He married Judith Mase on Sept. 13, 1969, in Watseka, and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, Adam W. Hoppe, of Watseka, and Paul A. (Stacey) Hoppe, of Watseka; one brother, Michael Hoppe, of Watseka; and two granddaughters, Brookelyn Hoppe and Hannah Boyer.
Mr. Hoppe was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Woodworth, where he faithfully served on the Board of Education and as a trustee and elder. He also was a township trustee for Crescent Township.
Allen served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years during Vietnam. He was a farmer, cattle feeder and later worked at Tate & Lyle Elevator in Watseka.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Sept. 17, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Woodworth. The Rev. Michael Stoerger will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Woodworth. Arrangements are being handled by the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.
