Wiseman Leads Touring Pros, Dickinson Leads Seniors
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Danny Wiseman averaged 242 and senior Gary Dickinson averaged 247 Sunday to hold the leads in their divisions after two rounds of the 1996 Touring Pro-Senior Doubles Championship.
Wiseman, a six-time champion, has a 2,906 pinfall total and a 49-pin lead over Dennis Horan.
Tommy Delutz Jr. was third with 2,845 and was followed by Bob Belmont, whose 2,816 pinfall included two 300 games in the second round. Jim Johnson Jr. rounded out the top five with 2,815.
Dickinson’s 2,964 pinfall was 125 pins ahead of Skip Hintz. Don Helling was third with 2,822 and was followed by John Handegard, the defending senior player of the year, with 2,771 and Pete Couture, 2,739.
The final round of qualifying will take place Monday before the top 18 from each side will advance to match play. The players will then be paired to form doubles teams for 18 games of match play. After 18 games of match play, the top five teams will advance to Wednesday’s championship round.
