Louisiana sheriff: Man killed cousin over living arrangement

March 5, 2019

GREENWOOD, La. (AP) — A Louisiana sheriff says a 76-year-old man has been accused of shooting and killing his cousin.

News outlets cite a statement from Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator as saying that Jerold Wayne Barron is jailed on second-degree murder in the death of 47-year-old Terry Lee. Investigators say Barron shot his cousin during a disagreement over living arrangements at Barron’s house in Greenwood.

Deputies were called to the home Sunday evening and found Lee had been shot once in the chest. Deputies say he died at the scene.

It is unclear if Barron has a lawyer who could comment for him.

Greenwood is near the Texas state line roughly 15 miles (24 kilometers) west of Shreveport, Louisiana.
