November 17, 2018

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A California man has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison after bringing multiple pounds of methamphetamine to a Montana city and nearby Indian reservation.

Miguel Morales, of San Jose, was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Billings by U.S. District Judge Susan Watters. He pleaded guilty in April to drug conspiracy and distribution charges.

Prosecutors say Morales in 2016 worked with a San Jose-based trafficking ring that brought meth from California to Billings and the Crow Indian Reservation.

They say Morales distributed the drug and collected money for it in Montana. He was arrested in October 2017 ion California after being indicted by federal grand jury in Montana.
