I-57 traffic stop leads to drug arrest
A traffic stop by an Illinois State trooper led to the arrest of Mario E. Davis, 26, of Chicago, for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver on Thursday.
According to a prosecutor, the trooper stopped a vehicle for going 70 mph in the 45 mph construction zone on Interstate 57 southbound at mile marker 314 at 3:27 p.m.
The trooper talked to Davis and a passenger. Their stories did not match so the trooper called a Bradley police K9 unit. The dog targeted a backpack in which 63.98 grams (or 2.25 ounces) of cocaine was found.
A judge set Davis’ bond at $175,000.
