FBI official to discuss expansion of Pocatello data center during Bannock Development event

October 13, 2018

POCATELLO — The multimillion dollar FBI data center expansion in Pocatello will be featured during Bannock Development’s 27th annual Economic Symposium on Oct. 24 at the Stephens Performing Arts Center, according to John Regetz, president and CEO of Bannock Development.

The featured speaker for the event will be Mike Malinowski, Section Chief, IT Infrastructure Division for the FBI in Pocatello.

The FBI expansion lies near the intersection of Pole Line and Quinn Roads, where ground was broken for the new data center just over a year ago.

The total project will create about 500 direct jobs and 160 spin-off jobs, Regetz said. The resulting wages from these jobs will generate an estimated economic impact to the region of $65 million.

Malinowski will describe various project phases of the FBI expansion such as the data center and mezzanine construction, as well as the number and types of jobs that will be created.

He will also discuss opportunities for the housing construction community with the establishment of the new facility.

Doors will open for the event at 10 a.m. for registration, networking and visiting sponsor booths. The program begins at 11 a.m. with hors d’oeuvres to follow.

Idaho Central Credit Union is the premier sponsor of the Economic Symposium.

“We are proud to have ICCU as the premier sponsor of this event,” Regetz said. “Without support from them and our other sponsors we could not put on this event that gives our community some insight into current economic trends and projects.”

Other sponsors of the Economic Symposium to date include: Portneuf Heath Trust, Cole Chevrolet, DL Evans Bank, Cooper Norman CPA’s, Intermountain Gas, Racine Olsen Attorneys, Wells Fargo Bank, Idaho Power, Bank of Commerce, the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce, The Pocatello- Chubbuck Auditorium District, Idaho State University, ON Semiconductor and Simplot.

Bannock Development is a private, non-profit economic development organization working for continued growth and diversity in Bannock County, according to its website at bannockdevelopment.org.
