Trial of dancer accused of Bolshoi attack put off
MOSCOW (AP) — A Russian court has delayed the start of the trial of a star dancer accused of organizing an acid attack on the Bolshoi ballet chief.
Prosecutors allege dancer Pavel Dmitrichenko ordered the Jan. 17 attack, which left artistic director Sergei Filin with severe acid burns to his face and eyes. The attack exposed a fierce power struggle within the theater.
The trial of Dmitrichenko and two unemployed men accused of perpetrating the attack was to start Tuesday, but the court adjourned for a week due to the absence of one of the lawyers.
Filin visited the Bolshoi last month after months of treatment in Germany, but said he wasn’t ready yet to resume work and would be traveling back and forth to Germany for continued treatment.
