Weekes, the backup to Nikolai Khabibulin, earned his second shutout in only 10 games this season and eighth career. The Lightning lead the NHL with seven shutouts this season.

Modin, stationed near the right goal post, scored 7:35 into the third period when he put in a deflection of a shot by Brad Richards that bounced off the right skate of goalie Mike Dunham.

Nashville had its franchise-record unbeaten streak at home snapped at 11 games. The Predators were also unbeaten in seven games overall.

In the second period, the Predators dominated with 14 shots, including a one-timer from Vitali Yachmenev that was snagged by Weekes’ glove.

Dunham also used his glove in the second period when he twirled around in the crease to catch a shot by Sheldon Keefe.
