Letter: Impressed by Matt Blumenthal

September 16, 2018

Dear editor,

I live in the Springdale section of Stamford. One Saturday a couple of weeks ago a nice gentleman came to the door of my house. I thought it might be a salesman, but he greeted me warmly and I soon found out it was Matthew Blumenthal, who is running for state representative in the 147th District, a seat that was held by William Tong. Strange that only two people running for this seat ever took the time to drop by and knock on my door, William Tong and Matt Blumenthal. We had a good discussion about the Springdale neighborhood, but Matt really wanted to know what I thought we needed in Connecticut and how he might be able to help.

I work for a high-tech company in Wilton. We are hiring skilled high-tech workers and have found it difficult to find the right people in our area. We need a strong education system and retraining opportunities for people seeking work in specialized areas such as high tech. We need a state where people want to come and live, work and can afford. Our infrastructure in the state needs affordable investments, which Matt and I discussed.

We need people in government, at all levels, that listen to the people they serve. I felt Matt listened to my concerns and addressed them. I believe he will reach out after he is in office and I expect he will reply to any concerns if I reach out to him.

I’m preparing to vote in November and I like what I have seen and read about Matt Blumenthal so far. I believe the issues he wants to address are important to my family and me. So, I will be supporting Matt Blumenthal for State Representative for District 147 this coming November.
