Arrest made in fatal New Bedford phone store shooting
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — A New Bedford man has been arrested on an accessory charge in connection with the fatal shooting of a man outside a cellphone store this week.
The Bristol County district attorney’s office announced Saturday that 36-year-old Jason Valliere was arrested late Friday night.
He is to be arraigned on Monday in New Bedford District Court on a charge of accessory to murder-after the fact. It is not immediately known if he has a lawyer.
Thirty-six-year-old Javon Brown of Dartmouth was fatally shot shortly after noon on Thursday outside the MetroPCS cellphone store on Coggeshall Street in New Bedford. He was found near the parking lot, and pronounced dead at a hospital.
The district attorney’s office said the killing is still being actively investigated.
