UPS Recognized As A Verge Vanguard Award Honoree

September 18, 2018

ATLANTA, Sept. 18, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GreenBiz Group today named UPS as one of the 2018 “ VERGE Vanguard Award honorees,” based on a global search for leaders who are accelerating an equitable transition to a clean power grid, a zero-emissions transportation system and the circular economy.

The 20 individuals and organizations being recognized with the VERGE Vanguard Award hail from large corporations reinventing business as usual, startups rewriting the “rules” and organizations shattering silos to foster a more inclusive and sustainable future.

The transition to a sustainable and low-carbon economy won’t happen without visionaries and leaders,” said Joel Makower, chairman and executive editor at GreenBiz Group. “The VERGE Vanguard award honors those who are showing the way, setting the path for companies, cities and all of us to follow. We are pleased to honor this year’s cohort as exemplars of the important and inspiring change we all want to see in the world.”

A dozen of this year’s roster includes some of the world’s largest companies, including Apple, Google, Tesla, Adidas, UPS, C&A and more. View the full VERGE Vanguard honoree list here: https://www.greenbiz.com/article/2018-verge-vanguard-awards

“UPS has long focused on reducing the company’s carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions – our leadership and innovation in the area of deploying alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles and the infrastructure needed to support them is at the center of that effort,” said Tamara Barker, UPS chief sustainability officer and vice president of environmental affairs. “We are honored to receive this award, which is really the result of our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability throughout our global network.”
