Transportation director charged with DUI in Trumbull

March 5, 2019

Bridgeport School Transportation director was arrested in February, charged with driving under the influence and side swiping a parked police car.

Raul Laffitte, 69, of Trumbull, apparently clipped the police car’s side view mirror when the police car had pulled over another vehicle for a routine traffic stop on Feb. 22.

The officer pulled Laffitte over and reported Laffitte smelled of alcohol and said he had not seen the police car, but admitted hearing a “pop” at some point. Laffitte allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later registered 0.118 on a breath test. The legal limit is 0.08.

Bond was set at $1,000 for a March 4 court date. Laffitte confirmed the arrest on Tuesday and said it was being handled through the courts.

Laffitte is also president of the Cuban Lyceum club in Bridgeport.
