Iowa Man New Commander of American Legion
NEW ORLEANS (AP) _ Dale L. Renaud, a veteran of the Korean War, was elected national commander of the American Legion as the organization closed its 67th annual convention Wednesday.
Renaud, 52, of Bondurant, Iowa, is president of an insurance agency.
″Americans respect us because of the programs we implement at the local level ... and because we draw our massive membership from a cross-section of America,″ said the new chief executive officer of the 2.7 million-member veterans’ group.
Renaud was commander of the Iowa American Legion in 1972 and represented it on the National Executive Committee from 1979 to 1983.
