UGI To Expand Gas Services In Duryea

May 15, 2019

DURYEA — Natural gas service is expanding in Duryea. UGI Utilities, Inc. will begin a natural gas main construction project in the borough the week of May 20. Some parts of Duryea are already connected to natural gas, and this project expands the footprint within the town, said spokesman Joseph Swope. The project is part of the company’s Growth Extension Tariff gas initiative to extend service to residents and businesses who currently do not have access to natural gas. Construction will take place on Oak Street between Wright Street and Miller Street. During construction hours, residents and commuters should expect delays and parking restrictions. Traffic will be restricted to one lane. Construction hours are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of May 24. The company is considering further expansion. UGI will be canvassing homes door-to-door during this time period to gauge interest in natural gas service. — BILL WELLOCK
