As sun shines, Hartsville Christmas Parade goes on
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – It was a week in coming, but a near-perfect weather day Sunday made the Hartsville Christmas Parade worth it.
December’s “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” weather patterns had towns across the Pee Dee scrambling for new parade dates.
Although the total number of parade entries was slightly down, the crowds along the parade route seemed not to notice.
The original date of Dec. 8 was scrubbed and reset to Sunday.
The parade route also was reduced by several blocks.
Instead of starting across from the Butler Center on South Fifth Street, the parade began in the old Food Lion parking lot north of the railroad tracks.
It also came west on Carolina Avenue from Fourth Street instead of looping around Home Avenue.
