ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) _ Tom Kleinschmidt scored 20 points and Bryant Bowden had 12 rebounds to lead DePaul to a 78-47 victory Monday night over Detroit.

DePaul (16-8) took an 10-6 lead with 11:24 left in the first half when Brandon Cole scored after stealing the ball on a Detroit inbounds pass.

A basket by Detroit’s Jamale Turner with 3:58 left made it 23-20. But the Blue Demons took an eight-point lead after two free throws by Kleinschmidt and a 3-pointer by Cole with 1:55 left.

DePaul opened up the second half with a 11-1 run, including a 3-pointer by Cole.

Ahead 43-26 with 15:47 left, the Blue Demons went on a second run, 14-4, to take a 57-30 lead with 12:16 remaining. With 6:02 remaining, DePaul made its third run, outscoring the Titans 11-2.

The Blue Demons shot 47 percent from the field and 59 percent from the free-throw line, compared with Detroit’s 33 percent from the field and 68 percent from the line.

Carl Pickett scored 11 points for Detroit (12-14). Alan Renner-Thomas had five rebounds for Detroit.
