Norfolk man arrested in possession of drugs at library
NORFOLK - A Norfolk man was arrested Wednesday evening after causing a disturbance at the Norfolk Public Library.
According to Norfolk Police Captain Mike Bauer, officers were called to the Library for a man who was refusing to leave.
It was reported to library staff that the man followed two teenage girls in the library and was rubbing his genital area.
When officers arrived, they saw staff speaking to the man that they recognized as 26-year-old Chad Sholes.
An officer asked Sholes to step outside of the building, and he complied.
Once outside the officer detected the strong odor of alcohol coming from him.
Sholes was continually digging in his pockets and the officer asked him if he had anything in his pocket that the officer should be concerned about.
He replied that he did not and began to voluntarily empty his pockets onto the ground.
One of the items from his pocket was a zip-lock bag that contained a crystalline substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Sholes was then arrested for possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
