Fireside Grille has local brews with some new foods

Hurricane’s Fireside Grille is looking forward to its eight-year anniversary. The casual restaurant and pub first opened its doors on Feb. 1, 2011.

The restaurant is co-owned by Marc Brown, Rob Sydenstricker and Judy Sydenstricker. It is located near the Teays Valley interstate exit, and there it serves up a variety of steaks, seafood, burgers and pasta. It has also established itself as a good place to grab a West Virginia-brewed beer.

“We were looking for properties in the Hunting-ton area and couldn’t find much of anything that fit our needs. We were looking for something along the lines of a 100-150 person facility. The longer we looked the less we found. Rob was up here for horse lessons with his daughter and saw this building with a for-sale sign. He called me and said ‘Let’s look at this thing.’ We set up a meeting with the realtor and fell in love with the building,” co-owner Marc Brown explained.

“We haven’t planned a party or anything to celebrate the anniversary. We will have some special dinner and lunch specials the week of our anniversary. We are also remodeling a small room for private parties that we should have finished soon.”

The Fireside Grille offers steaks cooked to order, including sirloin (8 oz. $18.99), filet mignon (6 oz. $24.99), and ribeye ($27.99). There’s also a flame-grilled pork chop ($16.99). The menu also offers fish including a salmon fillet ($16.99) and freshwater walleye ($14.99).

If you are looking for lunch you can try the Big John Burger ($10.99), slow-roasted prime rib sandwich ($8.99), and pulled pork ($8.99).

There are daily lunch and dinner specials such as homemade chicken salad on Monday, meatloaf on Wednesdays, and fish and chips on Fridays.

“In November we rolled out a revised menu. We’re fortunate to be locally owned and operated so we can manage our menu to what we want to do. We find the things that our guests enjoy by running specials and testing out new things,” Brown said.

“I’m really excited about this revision. We’ve added a tuna steak, some shark bites, some more gourmet flatbreads, and a cauliflower crust pizza. We also have a new Tuscan Tortellini pasta that is absolutely fantastic.

“We’ve also been carrying West Virginia craft beers as long as they’ve been available here. We enjoy carrying as many locally owned drafts as we can. We also have some drafts from Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. We have a ‘Drink Beer from Here’ slogan we’ve had some T-shirts made from. We’re locally owned and operated and we would like to help other locally owned and operated businesses,” Brown said.

Fireside Grille is located at 4170 W.Va. 34 in Hurricane. It is open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thurs-day and from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Cash and all major credit cards are accepted.
