Man killed by tractor-trailer near Hooversville
A man was killed Thursday afternoon near Hooversville Borough after being struck by a tractor-trailer, Somerset County Control confirmed.
First responders were called to the scene of the accident along Hooversville Road near Ponderosa Road in Quemahoning Township around 4:10 p.m. Somerset County Coroner Wallace Miller was later called to the scene.
When contacted Thursday night, Miller said he could not yet release the man’s name because he was uncertain if the man’s family had been notified. Miller did, however, say the man was 35 years old and from Fulton County.
Miller said the man was in town for work.
“He was part of a crew that was doing some paving,” he said. “They were almost done, too.”
Miller said the tractor-trailer was backed over the man, killing him of blunt force trauma to the head. He said state police are investigating the matter.
State and Hooversville police, the Hooversville fire department and Boswell EMS responded to the scene. A state police report was not available Thursday night.
