Royals scout Bob Carter dead at 63
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Bob Carter, a scout for the Kansas City Royals in the northeast, died in his sleep Tuesday, the Royals said.
Carter was 63. He died at his home in Chambersburg, Pa.
Carter had scouted for the Royals since 1987 and was supervisor for the territory that included Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia and Washington.
Among the major leaguers signed by Carter are Sid Bream, Michael Tucker, Jeff Nelson, Jim Pittsley, Joel Johnston and Matt Karchner.
Carter is survived by his wife, Mid, and three sons.
