Longmont Police Provide Scant Details on Early Tuesday Shooting

September 20, 2018

Longmont police are investigating a shooting that took place east of Main Street early Tuesday morning.

Police believe the shooting took place near the intersection of St. Clair Avenue and Lashley Street around 1:10 a.m., according to Cmdr. Joel Post.

The victim was shot in one hand and the chest, Post said. He still is in the hospital, but Post did not know his condition.

Post would not provide further details on the shooting, citing the open investigation. He also would not answer questions about whether police have a suspect or if the victim and suspect knew each other.

However, he did say police are “confident” there is no danger to the public.
