Man killed, elderly father critically injured in duplex fire

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A fast-moving fire at a Philadelphia duplex has left a man dead and his elderly father seriously injured.

Authorities say the fire broke out around 2:15 a.m. Monday.

Flames were shooting high from the home when firefighters arrived. They soon found an 80-year-old man on the second floor, who suffered undisclosed injuries and was hospitalized in critical condition.

The man’s adult son was found in the rear of the home and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The names of the two victims have not been disclosed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
