Treasury Bond Prices Rise
NEW YORK (AP) _ Treasury bond prices were higher at midday.
The price of the Treasury’s main 30-year bond was up 5-16 point, or $3.125 per $1,000 in face value, around midday, while its yield fell to 5.63 percent from 5.65 percent late Thursday. Prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Yields on three-month Treasury bills were steady at 4.98 percent as the discount held at 4.86 percent. Six-month yields slipped to 5.26 percent as the discount lost 0.01 percentage point to 5.07 percent. One-year yields were 5.38 percent as the discount dropped 0.01 percentage point to 5.11 percent.
Yields are the interest bonds pay by maturity, while the discount is the interest at which they are sold.
