New Press Secretary Named For Mrs. Dukakis
BOSTON (AP) _ Paul Costello, a former spokesman for Ohio Gov. Richard Celeste, has been named as press secretary to Kitty Dukakis, wife of probable Democratic presidential nominee Michael Dukakis.
Costello on July 5 will succeed Andrew Savitz, who was promoted to the campaign’s issues and communications staff, campaign manager Susan Estrich said Friday in a statement.
Costello, 35, was Celeste’s spokesman from 1981-1984. He also served as assistant press secretary to Roslaynn Carter during Jimmy Carter’s presidency.
He will take a leave of absense from his job as director of public affairs for the Chicago-based Marshall Field’s department store chain.
