MISSING SWIMMER-LAKE MICHIGAN
CHICAGO _ Relatives have held a lakeside vigil in Chicago for a 24-year-old college student days after she vanished while swimming in Lake Michigan. Eddisa Concepcion and two men jumped into the lake Friday morning at North Avenue Beach for a quick dip, but they encountered dangerous waters. SENT: 130 words.
GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN-LINCOLN HOME
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. _ Some tourists visiting Springfield are disappointed that the partial federal government shutdown has left Abraham Lincoln’s home closed to public tours. The Lincoln Home National Historic Site was closed after the partial shutdown began late Friday. UPCOMING: 130 words.
_ SCHOOL DISTRICT-SALARY SETTLEMENT: Two assistant high school principals in southwestern Illinois will receive $600,000 in back pay to settle a federal lawsuit over sex-based pay discrimination.
