Two second-half goals seals N.M. United’s 3-1 win over Austin
They’re starting to make this look easy.
Behind a pair of second-half goals by Santi Moar and an own goal to start things in the first half, the New Mexico United beat Austin, 3-1, in a United Soccer League match Saturday night in Texas. It is the second straight win for the United (6-1-6), whose 24 points put them alone in first place in the Western Conference standings.
The only scoring in the first half came on an own goal in the 29th minute by the Bold FC. Austin knotted it in the 55th minute, but New Mexico seized control just seven minutes later on Moar’s first goal. A red card issued to the Bold FC midway through the second half left them a man down, helping Devon Sandoval set up Moar for the final breakthrough of the night in the 88th minute.
The United return home for their next two matches. Up next is a June 5 contest against Oklahoma City FC and then a June 8 date with Sacramento Republic. Both matches will be at Isotopes Park.
