Tyson Hearing in London Postponed

August 7, 2000

LONDON (AP) _ Mike Tyson was granted a delay in his hearing before British boxing officials investigating the aftermath of the Lou Savarese bout seven weeks ago.

The British Boxing Board of Control had called the hearing for Wednesday. The board said lawyers for the former heavyweight champion had requested the delay but offered no further explanation.

Tyson stopped Savarese after 38 seconds on June 24 in Glasgow, Scotland. He continued to pursue his opponent and accidentally knocked down referee John Coyle.

Tyson also has been criticized for his postfight comments in which he said of heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis: ``I’ll rip his heart out and feed it to him.″

``I want your heart,″ Tyson added. ``I want to eat your children.″

A new date will be set following a meeting of the boxing board Wednesday.
