Good Samaritan electrocuted giving crash help in Guyana

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (AP) — Police say a man was electrocuted when he tried to come to the aid of people involved in a car crash in the South American country of Guyana.

Authorities say that a car crashed into a pole early Wednesday amid heavy rain near the capital of Georgetown. They say a driver who saw the crash stopped to help but stepped on a live wire from the broken pole. Police identified him as Chaitnarine Mangru.

Authorities say the two people in the car that crashed were killed instantly.
