Thousands in Midvale await restoration of power
MIDVALE, Utah (AP) — Thousands of people in the Midvale area remain without electricity after a collision led several power lines to come down.
The website for Rocky Mountain Power says more than 4,600 customers still had no power as of 8:30 a.m. Monday.
Authorities say a car hit a utility pole. The impact caused not only downed power lines but a small field fire from a transformer exploding.
Rocky Mountain Power officials say that led to 7,600 people without power in Midvale and Sandy as well as Beaver and Iron counties.
No injuries have been reported.
The driver initially fled the scene but is now in custody.
