Subway getting rid of $5 footlong deal
Customers may need more than five bucks for their 12-inch sandwiches at Subway.
The Milford-based sandwich chain kicked off the month by letting franchise owners decide whether they wanted to continue to offer the brands $5 footlong sub discount at their restaurants, according to a story in USA Today.
The announcement comes less than a year after Subway revived the jingle-spawning promotion, following a year-long hiatus. The promotion has reportedly been the topic of debate over its profitability for franchisees.
“How do we help our franchises with more of a regional value message, so they’re able to (have) a value proposition that fits with their economic model?” said interim CEO Trevor Haynes in an interview with USA Today.
