Stamford man charged with destroying hotel room

December 5, 2018

STAMFORD — A city man has been accused of causing about $7,000 in damage to a New Amsterdam hotel room.

Sgt. Robert Shawinsky said the hotel reported to police that Mario Pimintel, 22, who stayed at the hotel about once a month, caused damage to one of their rooms.

The management said they found garbage all over the floor, a broken window, broken chairs, dented and broken sheet rock walls and a broken vanity countertop in the bathroom when they went into the room on Nov. 12, police said.

Management said there were no complaints of noise or of unusual activity when Pimintel rented the room.

Pimintel, of Prospect Street, was charged with first-degree criminal mischief.
