Police: Everett woman fatally shot by her estranged husband
BOSTON (AP) — Police say an Everett woman was fatally shot by her estranged husband.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Everett Police Chief Steven Mazzie said police responded to a report of a shooting on Central Avenue in Everett Wednesday morning and found 50-year-old Ersilia Cataldo Matarazzo inside her car in the driveway.
They say she sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene.
They say her estranged husband, 55-year-old Emilio Matarazzo, of Peabody, has been charged with murder and will be arraigned Thursday in Malden District Court.
It’s unclear whether Matarazzo is represented by an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
Everett High School, which is not far from Central Avenue, was temporarily locked down immediately after the shooting.
Authorities continue to investigate.
