U.S. 290 projects close Eldridge Pkwy., West Road

December 7, 2018

Although Texas Department of Transportation originally planned to have all main lane construction done by the end of 2018, there are still projects left for the freeway.

Recently, TxDOT completed the main lanes on U.S. 290 from FM 529 to Eldridge Parkway — a significant portion of the major roadway. Due to rain delays, remaining main lane construction projects are expected to extend into the first quarter of 2019, according to TxDOT officials.

TxDOT has closed the eastbound exit ramp to Eldridge Pkwy. on U.S. 290 until further notice as well as one outside lane on the westbound frontage road from West Road to Eldridge Pkwy., according to TxDOT officials and the official TxDOT website, as of Dec. 6. TxDOT has also closed the westbound entrance ramp from Jones Road until further notice.

The main lanes eastbound from Telge Road to Eldridge Pkwy. will be closed for construction from Dec. 14 to Dec. 17, according to TxDOT officials. The eastbound inside lane from FM 2920 to Badtke is expected to open again on Feb. 3.

The westbound frontage road will have one inside lane closed from Jersey Drive to Jones Road, expected to open on Dec. 14, and the westbound entrance ramp from Antoine Drive will also be closed until Dec. 14.

TxDOT is also inviting the community to their U.S. 290 Fair and Fest on Dec. 15 to celebrate recently completed road projects including the U.S. 290 main lanes between I-610 and Beltway 8 and the I-10 and U.S. 290 connectors. The celebration will be held at METRO West Little York Park and Ride, located at 15010 Hempstead Road, and will feature food, kid-friendly activities and local businesses.
