NCDOT closes bridge off Interstate 95 after accident
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Transportation officials have closed an exit off Interstate 95 in North Carolina after a truck carrying logging equipment struck a bridge and damaged it.
The N.C. Department of Transportation said in a news release that officials closed the N.C. 82 bridge at exit 65 Friday.
Bridge inspectors were still assessing the damage to the concrete girders. NCDOT detoured traffic so no vehicles would pass under the damaged bridge while temporary repairs are being made. Northbound interstate traffic is being routed around it, but the bridge is expected to be closed indefinitely.
