Hudson to host German Christmas market Dec. 14-16

HUDSON, Ohio – Christkindlmarkt, a German Christmas market, will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 15 and 16 at the Hudson green.

The free event is organized by the Hudson-Landsberg Committee, which promotes the city’s sister-city relationship with Landsberg, Germany.

The street market will feature more than 24 vendors from Ohio and Pennsylvania. Vendors will offer hand-blown ornaments, wooden toys and greenery for sale, along with German foods such as roasted nuts, potato pancakes and strudel.

St. Nicholas and Krampus, a Central European folk figure who seeks out children who misbehave, will make appearances at the market.

Entertainment will be provided by the Great Lakes National Puppet Theater of Cleveland, the Chardon Polka Band and German-American brass band Cleveland Donauschwäbische Blaskapelle.

A free concert featuring German Christmas music will be held at 7 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the First Congregational Church, 47 Aurora Street.

Parking is available on city lots and at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 340 North Main Street, from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 15 and 16. A shuttle will provide transportation to the green.
