Bare knuckle fight promoter accused of fraud in Wyoming
CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — The CEO of the World Bare Knuckle Fighting Federation is accused of defrauding fighters and businesses during an event in Casper.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports Tomasz Stankiewicz, who organized the “Rise of the Titans” event held Nov. 9, was charged last month with five felonies.
Three fighters say he passed them bad checks totaling $60,000. Stankiewicz also is accused of failing to pay more than $3,700 for hotel rooms rented during the fights and $2,250 for transportation.
He pleaded guilty last year to wire fraud in a separate federal case and is set to begin serving a year in prison April 22.
Stankiewicz’s attorney in the federal case couldn’t be reached by phone, and Natrona County court records don’t indicate if he has hired an attorney in the Wyoming case.
