Small Town Loses Only Police Officer To Burglary Charge
ARCADE, Ga. (AP) _ The town’s only police officer was suspended without pay after being arrested on a burglary charge.
″We thought he was doing an excellent job. The whole town thought he was doing an excellent job,″ Mayor Gary Black said. ″I was very shocked. He is a personal friend of mine. We’d done a lot of things together.″
Sid Glenn, 24, was arrested Thursday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Agents searched his home and found items believed to have been taken in a recent burglary of an Arcade business, bureau spokesman John Bankhead said.
Glenn, a patrol officer for the town for about a year, posted bond Friday and was released from the county jail.
The north Georgia town, population about 500, used to have two officers, but the other retired recently, Black said. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department has agreed to provide an officer until a replacement can be found.
