JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) _ Edward Coleman scored 20 points Saturday as Jacksonville State beat Stetson 96-67.

Stetson (4-8, 0-1 Trans America Conference) held close until Jacksonville State went on a 11-0 run to take a 22-10 lead with 10:25 left on a jumper by Coleman.

After Coleman hit another jumper with 4:30 left in the half to give Jacksonville (6-5, 1-1) a 15-point lead, the closest Stetson would come was the 9-point halftime deficit of 42-35.

The Gamecocks shot 61 percent in the second half to Stetson’s 31 percent and built up a game-high 34-point lead with 3:57 left.

Jacksoville shot 81 percent from the foul line, but suffered from 3-point range, going just 5-of-14 for the game.

Aaron Kelley and Kris Weldon each had 13 points, while Rusty Brand had 12 points and 13 rebounds. Corey McKinney had 11 points in his first game.

Jason Alexander led Stetson with 14 points. Garrett Davis had 12 points.
