Norfolkan charged with fourth DUI
A report of a disturbance Friday night lead to the arrest of a Norfolk man early Saturday morning for driving under the influence.
Capt. Mike Bauer with the Norfolk Police Division said officers were called to a house in the 1400 block of South Third Street at 11:32 p.m. Friday regarding the disturbance.
Officers had contact with a female and an intoxicated male, identified as Dustin W. Peterson, 37.
The officers handled the call and left the area. But a few hours later, at 1:52 a.m. Saturday, police were notified that Peterson had just driven away from his residence and was still intoxicated.
Officers located Peterson driving in the 1400 block of South Third Street and had contact with him.
During this contact, an officer observed Peterson to have bloodshot, watery eyes and the strong odor of alcohol coming from him, Bauer said.
Peterson was requested to perform field sobriety maneuvers and submit to a preliminary breath test. The results indicated impairment.
Peterson was then placed under arrest for driving under the influence (.15 grams or more) — fourth offense.
In addition, Peterson was arrested for prohibited acts relating to ignition interlock device for circumvent the device installed in his vehicle.
Peterson was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transported to the Madison County Jail.
