STAMFORD — Stamford students can expect a short first day of school.
The district announced Wednesday afternoon there would be an early release on the first day on Thursday due to the heat. More information will be available later tonight, according to the public schools website.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to hit a high of 88 degrees with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.
The district faced a similar issue toward the end of the last school year when students were dismissed early due to warm weather with a week of classes left.
Schools will let out for the day, starting at 11:45 a.m. For a full list of early dismissal times, visit https://www.stamfordpublicschools.org/district/public-affairs/pages/school-bell-times-regular-day-delayed-opening-and-early-release
