COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ Firefighters responded to burning couches in the street and fires set in trash bins near Ohio State University’s campus following the No. 1-ranked Buckeyes’ 24-7 win over No. 2 Texas on Saturday night.
The fire department put out more than 30 fires in the area, Battalion Chief Kevin O’Connor said early Sunday morning. Five people were arrested in connection with the fires, but there was little property damage, he said.
O’Connor said he and two other people were hit by a car that came through a temporary command post set up in the driveway of a university student union. The two others, an Ohio State official and her husband, were being treated at Ohio State University Medical Center for minor injuries, and he was treated at the scene for bumps and bruises, he said.
No other major problems had been reported in the campus area, a city police dispatcher said.
