Bride Shot By Ex Before Wedding
RIDGEFIELD, N.J. (AP) _ A woman preparing for her wedding was shot to death Sunday by her ex-boyfriend, who was restrained by the woman’s brother and then arrested, police said.
A Rolls Royce was waiting at the curb Sunday afternoon as a photographer inside Gladys Ricart’s home here photographed the 39-year-old woman while she got ready for her wedding.
Shortly before 4 p.m., her ex-boyfriend, Augustine Garcia, entered the house, approached the bride, pulled out a gun and fatally shot her, according to Bergen County Prosecutor William H. Schmidt.
Garcia, who was carrying a small, five-shot, .38-caliber hand gun, was being held at the Ridgefield Police Department headquarters Sunday night.
``He has not been charged yet, but he will be charged,″ Schmidt said. He expected Garcia would be arraigned sometime Monday.
``Garcia is a former boyfriend. They dated for six or seven years and broke up about nine months ago,″ the prosecutor said.
