New Fairfield road reopened 14 hours after tree, power lines fell

August 18, 2018

NEW FAIRFIELD — Pine Hill Road was closed for more than 12 hours after a tree and power lines fell across the roadway late Friday night.

Around 11 p.m., New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department said Pine Hill Road, just after Farmers Lane, was closed because of a tree and power lines that were down in the road. The appropriate agencies, including Eversource, were notified.

It took a few hours to restore power, officials said. But reopening the road took a bit more work.

Pine Hill Road was reopened shortly before 1 p.m Sunday, nearly 14 hours after it was first shut down.
