Sion hires qualified coach to work with Gattuso
SION, Switzerland (AP) — Gennaro Gattuso has been given a fully qualified coaching assistant by FC Sion, allowing him to fulfill his duties as player-coach with the Swiss top-tier team.
Sion says it has hired Arno Rossini, who has a league-required UEFA Pro coaching license, to work with the 2006 World Cup winner with Italy.
Gattuso was appointed player-coach last month before completing his coaching qualifications.
The 35-year-old former AC Milan midfielder is Sion’s fifth coach this season. The team is fourth in the 10-team top division.
Gattuso, who won two Champions League titles with Milan, has said he plans to retire from playing at the end of the season.
Sion says Rossini previously worked at league rival Young Boys as an assistant to Vladimir Petkovic, who now coaches Lazio in Serie A.
