Warsaw officer shoots man in arm
A Warsaw police officer shot a man in the arm during an investigation tonight.
Indiana State Police have been asked to investigate the shooting.
Warsaw police were called at 7:26 p.m. to investigate an unwanted party in the 1800 block of Michaels Street. The person was unknown to the residents in a home and left before police arrived. He began to walk in traffic on Old Road 30, also known as Lake Street, state police said.
The man began trying to get into cars that were passing by when a police officer confronted him, state police said.
During the encounter, the suspect began struggling with the officer who tried to use his Taser stun gun. The stun gun had no effect on the suspect and the officer fired his gun, hitting the man in the arm. He received non-life threatening injuries, state police said.
Officers stabilized the scene and rendered aid to the man prior to Lutheran EMS’ arrival, state police said.
