Harper’s Daughter in Good Condition
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ The 15-month-old daughter of Orlando Magic guard Derek Harper was upgraded Thursday to good condition two days after nearly drowning in a backyard swimming pool.
Daria Harper remained in pediatric intensive care but recognized her parents, said Lisa Ehrsam, a spokeswoman for Florida Hospital.
``She is very alert. Her eyes are open. She’s looking at her mom and holding her mom’s hand,″ Ehrsam said.
Daria is the youngest of Derek and Sheila Harper’s four children.
Daria apparently slipped out a rear door at home and fell in the pool Tuesday evening. Her mother got her out of the pool and performed CPR until paramedics arrived. Authorities said that quick action may have saved the girl’s life.
``She’s going to be fine,″ said Tony Clay, the child’s uncle. ``Our prayers have been answered.″
