NEW YORK (AP) _ Some of the outstanding performances in college football games Saturday, Oct. 25:

Split end Wendell Davis caught nine passes for 184 yards, two of them for touchdowns from Tommy Hodson, to lead LSU past North Carolina 30-3. ---

Quarterback John Congemi completed 30 of 43 passes for a school-record 446 yards and five touchdowns, three to former defensive back Keith Tinsley, as Pittsburgh ripped Navy 56-14. ---

Tim Vesling’s 32-yard field goal as time expired carried Syracuse to a 27-24 upset over Temple. Temple’s Paul Palmer scored a pair of touchdowns and gained 187 yards on 39 carries. His performance broke by one yard the NCAA three-game consecutive rushing record of 774 yards set by Michigan State’s Eric Allen in 1971. ---

Central Arkansas tailback Cedric Holt rushed 29 times for 240 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Bears rolled past Ouachita Baptist 35-10. ---

Nicholls State quarterback Doug Hudson passed for a school record 417 yards and five TDs to lead the Colonels over Southwest Texas State 35-21. ---

Quarterback Mike Perez passed for 508 yards and three touchdowns to lead San Jose State to a 44-15 victory over the University of Pacific. ---

Goran Lingmerth broke an NCAA single-game record with eight field goals as Northern Arizona dumped Idaho 24-0. Lingmerth hit field goals of 39, 18, 20, 33, 46, 27, 22 and 35 yards, breaking the old NCAA record of seven set by Dale Klein of Nebraska in 1985. ---

Mike Kane ran for 212 yards and two touchdowns as CSU-Northridge registered a 48-24 victory over St. Mary’s. ---

Cody Carlson’s fourth-quarter touchdown bombs of 72 yards to John Simpson and 86 yards to Derrick McAdoo gave Baylor a come-from-behind 28-17 victory over Texas Christian. ---

Quarterback Todd Ellis hit 17 of 23 passes for 319 yards in about 2 1/2 quarters and threw a carrer-high four touchdowns as South Carolina beat East Carolina 38-3. ---

Warren Marshall ran for 264 yards and three touchdowns and broke his own single-game rushing mark of 247 yards as James Madison posted a 42-33 victory over William & Mary. ---

Halfback Joe Chetti rushed for 204 yards and four touchdowns as C.W. Post crushed St. John’s 59-28. ---

Senior tailback Bruce McIntyre ran for 212 yards and four touchdowns to lead Lafayette to a 52-34 victory over Bucknell. ---

Fullback Tim Fanikos scored three touchdowns and was one of three rushers to gain over 100 yards as Tufts handed Amherst their first defeat of the year, winning 35-23. Fanikos rushed for 149 yards on 22 attempts, Paul Dresens rushed for 103 yards, and Kevin Doherty led all rushers with 155 yards. ---

Senior tailback Kelvin Farmer rushed for a career-high 210 yards and scored two third-quarter touchdowns to lead Toledo to a 24-21 victory over Ohio University. ---

Quarterback Kevin Enterlein passed for 386 yards and four touchdowns, both school records, as Pace beat Iona 37-12. ---

University of Central Arkansas tailback Cedric Holt rushed 29 times for 240 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Bears rolled over Ouachita Baptist 35-10. ---

Bluffton tailback Greg Gilcrease ran for 247 yards in a 27-18 victory over Tiffin. ---

Sean Payton threw for five touchdowns to give Eastern Illinois a 34-20 victory over Southwest Missouri State. ---

Christian Okoye rushed for 243 yards and two touchdowns as Azusa Pacific beat the University of Redlands 35-0. ---

Senior fullback Paul Magistro ran for three touchdowns and 209 yards to lift Kutztown past Mansfield 36-34. ---

Junior halfback Ed Christensen rushed for a school-record 229 yards on 30 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead Marist to a 28-13 victory over Siena. ---

Fullback Rob Harrison rushed for a Western Football Conference record 268 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Sacramento State to a 48-31 victory over Southern Utah State College. ---

Travis Pride returned two interceptions of 65 and 56 yards for touchdowns as Fort Lewis the Colorado School of Mines 38-9.
