Reno-Tahoe airport expects to serve 80K people this week
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Officials with Reno-Tahoe International Airport expect this Thanksgiving week to be one of the busiest the facility has seen in a decade.
Officials were expecting 80,000 people to walk through the airport this week, but the facility experienced a few weather-related cancellations and delays Wednesday.
The National Weather Service also reported 40-to-50-mph gusts developing in the Reno area Friday afternoon. Meteorologist John Mittelstadt says the winds could potentially affect smaller airplanes.
Airport officials were expecting Wednesday and Sunday to be the busiest days.
They are encouraging travelers to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before their scheduled domestic flight or two hours ahead of an international flight.
